Tony and Elizabeth’s Adventure Themed Roan Mountain Wedding was so fun to be a part of. I loved photographing them. They were so relaxed and happy in each other’s company.

How Did They Meet?

I don’t do this for everyone’s blog, but their story is too fun to not share. Tony was Elizabeth’s manager at Wendy’s when she worked there in high school. She thought he was cute. But life moved on. Years later they reconnect over facebook and Tony joined Elizabeth on a multi-state road trip! YES! You heard that right. Forgive me, Elizabeth and Tony, if I’m messing up some of these details, but I’m pretty sure Tony met Elizabeth’s family on this road trip.

They started dating long distance. Because they lived so far away from each other, they’d always do extended road trips to spend time together. They are true adventurers. After a couple years of dancing around, getting jobs in states that are slightly closer to the others, Tony proposed on top of a mountain.

They finally live in the same place and get to spend the rest of their lives together. Their adventure theme could not be more perfect.We even had an adventure themed engagement session at Max Patch. They’ll be heading out West for their honeymoon to Scottsdale, AZ where they’ve already got their hikes mapped out.

Getting Ready

I had a great time getting to know Elizabeth’s family while she got ready and they all hung out at the cabin. There’s nothing better than seeing family come around the new family.

                 

First Look

Tony and Elizabeth chose to have a first look. As with almost all of my photos, it had stopped raining right in time. They chose to do a first look to make sure their guests wouldn’t be waiting too long at the reception for them after the ceremony. This also gave us SO many wonderful opportunities to take advantage of a couple different locations throughout the day for photos.

Also this wedding was on Tony’s birthday! So Elizabeth gave him Roan Mountain cuff links. (you can see them above).

   

This veil was worn by both Elizabeth’s mom and her older sister at their weddings. She said, “It is very special to the three of us.”

 

Roan Mountain Wedding Ceremony

Elizabeth’s mom and brother are two very special people in her life. “My mom is my rock,” she said. As her father passed away when she was young, her older brother has played a super important role in her life. He and his wife have been excellent role models and held the important honor of officiating the wedding.
