I visited my hometown, Tallahassee, last year for the first time in many years. I was visiting for an old friend from high school’s baby shower. While I was there I took photos of another friend and her new baby...

I loved photographing this Peninsula Yacht Club wedding. The coordinator, Emily, was so on top of things and served everyone so graciously through out the day. She brought them drinks and snacks as we took “Just Married” portraits and made the day move along perfectly. The location is beautiful and I loved the uniqueness of the locations we were able to utilize for portraits.
Shannon’s gold watch and broach she wore were her grandmothers. I love that she was able to bring something from generations before with her as she said “I do” to beginning her own family.
Most of my couples decide to do first looks. I, myself had a first look. When Shannon returned to her room before the ceremony, she said, “I feel so much better now.” It helps get the jitters out. There’s less nerves. Plus you get so much more one on one time with your fiance/spouse on your wedding day this way!
It also allows for a much more forgiving timeline on the wedding day. Because Shannon and Allen did a first look, we finished portraits early! And they were able to enjoy a glass of wine and a beef just the two of them before the reception began!
I had the pleasure of doing Shannon and Allen’s engagement photos at Lake Lure. So we had practice not only posing but also walking on docks! I really encourage couples to do engagement photos with their wedding photographer even if they feel like they don’t need the photos for anything. It helps get everyone comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day and takes a lot of the fear and anxiety out of the process.
My process for portraits is to try to make them as enjoyable as possible. I want couples to feel comfortable and like themselves in front of the camera. I do this by giving you direction on what to do but not micromanaging your movements. The more practice you get at the engagement session, the less you have to worry about on the wedding day!
These girls were so sweet and wonderful to be around throughout the day. And boy. They knew how to laugh!! Their sparkling dresses are from Bella Bridesmaids in Charlotte, NC.
The Peninsula Yacht Club has a lovely spot for wedding ceremonies out by the water. We enjoyed a nice breeze here and there during the ceremony. Shannon’s brother walked her down the aisle and Victor from Bridal Affairs played piano live for this. He also did a great job keeping the party going at the reception.
Peninsula Yacht Club Weddings have multiple options for wedding receptions. I loved this because of the accessibility to the bright white walls and ceiling, the windows and the perfect dancing area right outside. Peninsula Yacht Club catered the reception. The cake was made by The Little Baker and all the florals were made by Harrisburg Florists.
Shannon and Allen met as kids on the bus going to church. Allen insisted he and Shannon return to that church they first met at years and years ago one Sunday and asked her to be his wife. Their first dance as husband and wife was to Perfect by Ed Sheeran. “We were just kids when we fell in love..” So sweet.
