I love being able to photograph places near Asheville, NC like Max Patch! This Max Patch engagement session didn’t go as planned but we loved it!
Tony and Elizabeth have such an interesting story! Their relationship began a long time ago when Elizabeth was in high school working at Wendy’s! After years and years, they reconnected over a road trip. These two are adventurers through and through. They love to travel and that is why they are having a travel themed wedding!
Tony proposed at the Obed Scenic River and they’re getting married at Roan Mountain, so it is only fitting for them to have an adventurous, hiking engagement session at Max Patch.
I think Max Patch is a favorite for all Asheville photographers. The first time I went there I told my husband “I think this is my favorite place on earth.”
We met at Max Patch after a treacherous, rainy drive to find it completely (and I mean completely) covered in fog. Which looks cool in photos, but its not exactly why you head over to Max Patch.
Well we took some great photos. Tony and Elizabeth are great models, so they made my job super easy. They were so easy going and relaxed. We found some snow, which was a fun surprise. And then…
Bright blue mountain peaks start growing out of the clouds and then sun starts breaking through. We had about 10 minutes of pure magic on the mountain top. It was one of the most beautiful sites ever. I think even if we didn’t get any epic photos, the driving and the hike were worth those couple moments of magic.
Luckily we did get photos though, so you can bask in the magic as well.
