The Process

The Search

Toward the beginning of your 2nd trimester, its time to start researching photographers. What should you look for?

1. The experience. What kind of experience do you want? Do you like to do it all yourself? Or are you very busy and want your photographer to take care of all the details for you? My objective is to create a hands off experience for you. I’ve taken hundreds of women’s maternity photographs and want to provide you a curated experience so you can get photographs you’ll be happy with for years to come. I have a wardrobe of beautiful dresses you can choose from in addition to a hair and makeup artist ready to prepare you for your session.
2. The style. Do you want fine art photography? Or a more documentary, raw style? Do you like trendy, moody editing? Or prefer something more classic? Try to find a photographer who has the full look you’re going for. Don’t be afraid to ask how they’d describe their work. Look through their blog at multiple sessions. Does the style resonate with you? I lean towards a fine art, light and airy look. My photos are typically simple and timeless. My goal is to create images that stand the test of time.
3. The Collection. Do you want more than just maternity photos? Do you want digital files? Do you want an album? Are you going to want newborn photos too? Ask how multiple sessions work and if you can see an album and framed work. Think now about how you’d like to preserve your photos. Otherwise they’ll just sit in a cloud.

Session Prep

Before your session, you can visit my studio and try on dresses. I like to help create a cohesive look for the whole family. My clients love this because not only does it take the stress out of another thing for you to do, but its also fun! We can also arrange for my hair and makeup artist to meet you at my studio or hers to do your hair and makeup for the session. This way you literally don’t have to do any prep yourself. There’s no reason getting professional photos done, shouldn’t be fun and stress-free.

The Session

Then we’ll have your session! A lot of people are worried about posing. Don’t be. No one knows the “right” way to stand or where to put their hands. That’s what I’m here for. Seriously. I’ll help the experience be enjoyable and easy going. So you’ll end up with beautiful photographs. Listen to what other clients have said about their session:

Your photos

Within 2 weeks of your session date, your photos will be ready to view. At this time we can design your album and I can help you figure out how you’d like to display your photos in your house. I love helping people design gallery walls and pick out frames. You’ve spent so much time and effort making sure you have this season properly documented. Don’t stop before you find a tangible way to preserve them. And just like the whole process until now, I’ll help make it easy and seamless. Then you’ll have heirlooms ready to admire in your home and pass down to your kids.
