I visited my hometown, Tallahassee, last year for the first time in many years. I was visiting for an old friend from high school’s baby shower. While I was there I took photos of another friend and her new baby...

Kyra and Brennan are married! Their Lake Junaluska Wedding was a joy to witness. I first met them back in March at a coffee shop in Black Mountain to discuss shooting their engagement photos and wedding. I loved hearing their story and how excited they were to become a family. These two started dating and have been inseparable ever since. It was so sweet to hear their friends and family and pastor at the wedding confirming how great they are for each other and how they all saw this day coming from the start.
One of the most special parts of their wedding was their vows. I wish I could remember all of it to share with you but the part that sticks out to me was them saying “I promise to love the person you will become.” Often times people disparage of young couples getting married because there is so much changing ahead of them. These two recognize right from the start that they will change and they choose to love their spouse for the person they are today and the person they’ll be tomorrow. And they’re excited to grow up and grow old together and that’s an exciting thing to witness.
I loved the groom’s mom’s comment here “do you know how on earth we’re supposed to pin this on?”
One of the special details of this wedding is the bride was wearing her mom’s necklace.
Ok so first looks…
This wedding is the poster child for why first looks are such a great idea. This was a rainy rainy rainy day. There had been rain forecasted all week… Not that I believe the forecasts here in the mountains. And the rain basically held off all week. Until the wedding day. It did however wait until the afternoon.
Because the bride and groom decided to do a first look, we were able to do all their portraits together before the rain began! After the ceremony it rained and rained and rained. This also meant they got to join their guests at their reception just 20 or so minutes after the ceremony!
Some people worry that the emotional reaction isn’t the same at a first look or that the walking down the aisle isn’t as climactic… Well I’ll let the photos speak for themselves here…
Here you see that rain I told you about starting to come down…
And here again I’m going to let the photos speak for themselves about that first look…
