I had so much fun meeting this family and taking photos of their sweet newborn baby boys at their home right outside of Asheville.

I am an on location photographer, meaning I usually do photos out in nature. However for newborn portraits, that means I come to your house! You don’t have to leave.

The first thing I do after arriving to a family’s home (and saying hello) is get a tour. This is to find the room with the best light for the photos. It doesn’t matter how clean or dirty the house is, I can work with any space. What I’m looking for is a window.

In this case, they were in the process of renovating their basement. This entire session was done in a basement with only light coming in from the door (which we left open.) So don’t worry if you feel like you don’t have tons of light streaming into your house! I’m sure we’ll be able to find something great for your baby’s portrait session.

In addition, you don’t ever need to worry about having outfits or anything for the babies. If you have something sentimental you’d like included, let me know. This family included a ship in memory of a grandparent.

Other than that, I provide everything we need. I have a collection of simple blankets and swaddles. I like to use minimal props to keep the focus on the babies and who they are as people. I also use organic posing to capture those sweet stretches and yawns.
