St Marks Lighthouse Session

Coley is a Wakulla Family Photographer specializing in Newborn, Maternity and Family Photos. This Family Photography Session was taken at St Marks Lighthouse about 45 minutes South of Tallahassee. St Marks Lighthouse has a beautiful view of the sea at sunset and miles of lovely classic Florida marshland. There is so much beauty in North Florida and St Marks Lighthouse captures just about all of it.

St Marks Lighthouse was built in 1831 and is a true historic landmark of the area. You can tour the lighthouse on certain days of the week but the beautify of the area are available to the public year round with wonderful trails, boating, fishing, bird-watching, etc. I love visiting for an evening taking photos because of the natural beauty and the beautiful light at sunset.

What makes your photo session with me different?

1. Time. My family sessions typically do not take a long time. 30-45 minutes is ideal. Sometimes we’ll spend a full hour. I’ve found I can get all the photos needed for a full gallery in this time span and kids and dads usually start to wither a bit after 45 minutes. I want this to be a fun memory, something that you look forward to and remember fondly. So I like to keep it short and sweet instead of drawing it out until everyone is feeling sour. After having done this for years, I am confident in my ability to get natural expressions and a variety of poses in the time needed.
2. Film. I shoot both film and digital! I love the timeless look film creates. I think this look is what draws clients to my work even if they don’t recognize that it is film. It has a beautiful color and lighting profile that you just can’t achieve with digital.
3. Unflappable. You won’t fluster me. Your kids won’t be too crazy. or grumpy. or weird. or disobedient. or loud. Really. They’re all great. They won’t bother me. We’ll get amazing pictures. You don’t have to worry. I’ve got 3 kids myself so I’m used to it. I’ve found going with the flow and treats and making the whole thing short and fun goes a long way.
4. Service. If you’re done with DIYing your way through family photos, I’m your gal. I provide everything from outfits to frames. You don’t have to plan a thing. Just show up and I’ll take care of the rest. I’ve carefully thought through each step of the photo process, identified pain points and tried to make everything as easy for you as possible. I know how difficult it can be to make something like this happen and I think it is SUCH an important investment for your family. I want to make it smooth and easy for you.
