I visited my hometown, Tallahassee, last year for the first time in many years. I was visiting for an old friend from high school’s baby shower. While I was there I took photos of another friend and her new baby...
I’ll send a style guide with links to outfits and color schemes to follow in preparation for your petite session. If you’d like to utilize my studio wardrobe (a curated closet for clients) get in touch and we can plan a full session.
You may have noticed by now I tend to stick to neutral colors and pastels. There is a reason for this! I want to provide timeless photos featuring love and connection. I don’t want wardrobe to distract from the people.
I also have the end goal in mind. My end goal for your photos is for you to hand them up in your house. I know that over the years, styles change and the paint on your walls and your decor will evolve. I want you to have photos that won’t go out of style and won’t clash with however you’re decorating your house.
Will there be enough time?
When I first started doing family photography years ago, all my sessions were at least an hour long. I would literally take thousands of photos. Why? Honestly.. I was inexperienced. I needed that time to deliver the kind of product I thought was good enough to deliver to my clients.
As I gained more experience and learned more and grew more competent and comfortable, the time I needed grew less and less. I didn’t need to experiment with my clients in front of the camera anymore. I learned how to utilize light. I learned how to get genuine smiles and interactions by prompting clients instead of waiting for them to do something worth capturing.
Not only that but I’ve learned that kids fall apart. Dads lose interest. The excitement starts to fade and people want to go eat.
So is 20 minutes enough? Yes. Absolutely yes. Don’t believe me? Here’s what Courtney said about this session:
“I think for a family with young children this was a perfect amount of time! We could have lasted 10 more minutes and then I believe my children would have lost it. The amount of images Coley captured during this short session is outstanding! I am very impressed.”
What if I want more photos?
Want to know something else? I’m going to give you a gallery with far more than 10 photos in it. 10 photos is included because I think 10 photos is a perfect amount to be able to update some frames and put photos of this milestone in an album with some variety. But I’m going to take more and your gallery will have more and if you want them you can upgrade. Easy as pie.
