Waiting on the baby.
Folks from Atlanta like to babymoon in Asheville! I’d say 1/2 of my maternity clients are from Atlanta taking a trip to Asheville for the weekend!
I love this.
Except for a forecast of torrential downpour!
Which happened this weekend. There was about 100% chance of thunderstorms ALL WEEKEND LONG.
But! In true portrait session fashion, it did NOT rain during our scheduled session time. It never does. (knock on wood)
If you’re visiting from Atlanta and you’re considering having photos taken, or maybe you’re local! Here’s some things to consider:
1. The best time for Asheville Maternity Photos is around 30-32 weeks.
There are exceptions of course. For example, I recommend moms of twins to take their photos earlier. This is because their baby bump will be large enough sooner and moms of twins are more likely to be put on bedrest or go into labor far earlier. I recommend 30-32 weeks because typically the baby bump is looking great but you aren’t in that “get-this-baby-out-of-me-i’m-so-uncomfortable” phase yet.
2. Don’t worry about bringing stuff or buying stuff
I have a wardrobe full of beautiful dresses ready for mamas-to-be and shirts for papas-to-be. They’re selected because they’re flattering, high quality, and lend themselves well to “my style”. They aren’t loud as to not distract from the true beauty and simplicity and connection we’re going for. You’d be surprised how much clothing changes the “feel” of a photograph.
Also! Hair and Makeup? Don’t worry about it. Local hair and makeup artist Pop of Color will come to the studio early to do your hair and makeup.
3. Want more than 1 session?
The membership is for folks wanting to schedule 3 or 4 sessions within an 18 month period. This could be maternity, newborn, 1 year or maternity, newborn, sitter, walker, or, frankly, whatever you want. The collective session fee is less and you get $100 off each order. In addition I provide priority booking to membership clients in addition to other special perks throughout the year!
4. In Studio Sessions
As an Asheville Motherhood Photographer, I now offer maternity sessions in the studio! I have a natural light studio in downtown black mountain. If you’d rather not take photos outdoors, have to worry about the weather, or love the look of my newborn studio photos, schedule an indoor studio session.
Asheville Motherhood Photographer
My goal is to create timeless portraits for you and your family to cherish for years to come. I want the style of the photos to be simple and organic, free from trends or distractions so years later when you look back, you’ll be able to see past the photo itself and remember the moments and the personalities.
