I visited my hometown, Tallahassee, last year for the first time in many years. I was visiting for an old friend from high school’s baby shower. While I was there I took photos of another friend and her new baby...
Since I began photographing families, newborns and maternity sessions in Asheville, NC, I have only postponed a session due to rain one time. This was it.
When Gabby was 32 weeks pregnant (in my opinion the ideal time to take maternity photos) we had a session scheduled for a Tuesday evening. The weather forecasted storms. First it forecasted it would begin raining at noon, then 3pm, then 6pm and so on… Well since Gabby was traveling all the way from Greenville and particularly wanted mountains in the photos (otherwise we would have switched to an indoor session) we decided to postpone due to the weather forecast. The problem was that every day for the next 10 days forecasted storms.
As you may imagine it was not nearly as rainy that week as our dear weather people has promised. And I officially lost faith in the forecast. Now when I wonder what the weather will be like, I walk outside, look at the sky and make my own assessments. Is it reliable? No. Is it less reliable than the weather forecasts? No. So that’s what I’ll do from now on.
Anyways Gabby and her husband, Paul came up when she was 38 weeks for their session. They were really sweet, and I’m so happy I got to meet them.
